Christmas Ride-out Lunch
Peter Clark has once again kindly organised a Christmas lunch for Club members. This year’s Christmas Ride out lunch will be held on Sunday, 4th December 2022 at a new venue:
Westbourne Close is less than a mile from the Buttercross to the west of Otley just off the Bradford Road (A6038), the route most of us take when cycling up towards Ellar Ghyll. Check out the impressive venue at https://www.westbournehouseotley.co.uk. It is not to be confused with Westbourne Spice, the curry house further up the Bradford Road.
The event will start at 11.30 hrs for a 12.15 hrs serving. Otley Cycle Club will have exclusive use of the restaurant. There will be a warm welcome for members who will want to relax and enjoy themselves after their morning exertions. The restaurant serves a Christmas Festive Menu using fresh local produce, a wide range of beverages, wines, ales and spirits will also be available to purchase. There is ample parking for bikes and for cars.
Roast Turkey with all the seasonal trimmings; or
A vegetarian option of Beetroot and Butternut Squash Wellington with all the seasonal trimmings
You will need to choose which option (T or V) when ordering – see Reservations below.
Christmas pudding and Brandy Sauce
Tea and coffee
You can pre-order wine (payable only on the day) at a rate of £14.95 a bottle, with a choice of either Mancura Etnia Sauvignon Blanc or Mancura Etnia Merlot, both highly recommended Chilean wines. To pre-order, see Reservations.
Price and numbers
Westbourne House can accommodate up to 80 diners. Reservations are available on a first come, first served basis, up to that limit, at £17 per head, including VAT and service charge. The cost is the same as last year.
Payment & reservations
Please make and pay for your reservation(s) by online BACS, to Otley Cycle Club, Sort Code 40 24 32 Account No. 81366300. When paying, prefix your menu choice(s) in the payment reference field, T or V or TT, VT, TTT etc followed by your surname. We will close reservations at NOON on Sunday 27th November, in order to give the Westbourne House final numbers that evening and remember, places are limited so booking is first come, first served.
Just like previous years, this will be a ticketless event relying on a list and facial recognition technology to identify guests on entry.
Please e-mail the club, firstname.lastname@example.org (Subject: Ride out Christmas Lunch) on paying, to confirm your booking listing all of those covered by your booking, with menu options (T or V) and whether you wish to pre-order a bottle of wine, red or white.
If, for any reason, you are unable to make an on-line payment, Peter Clark or Chip Lowrance will be at the Buttercross between 09.00 hrs and 090.15 hrs to receive cash payments on the following Sunday mornings in November – 6th, 13th, 20th and 27th. You will need to bring the exact amount, £17, as no change can be given.
Note that as all the food is pre-ordered and paid for the week before the event, no refunds can be given for withdrawals or cancellations after Sunday 27th November. You could transfer the booking into a different name without changing the menu option, but we will not be able to give you your money back.
Traditionally, we have held a raffle at the Ride out Lunch to raise funds for the Club’s various activities. We rely on members to donate suitable raffle prizes. Chip Lowrance and Peter Clark will be there at Westbourne House, early on that Sunday 4th December. He and members of the team, will be there to accept donations from you. Note that the staff at Westbourne House have promised to donate a raffle prize, as has Sanjai Bhatia at Chevin Cycles who will be donating a silver maintenance service.
Support your club and have a fun day out. We are all looking forward to the event and hope to see you there in the best of festive spirits.
