My sister-in-law & her groom have COVID but held their wedding with no masks anyway – it’s been super divisive
A BRIDE and a groom went through with their wedding despite both having Covid – and they’re facing backlash on social media.
The wedding festivities put viewers on opposing sides of the COVID debate, with many irked viewers sharing their disapproval.
Planning a wedding takes a ton of time and effort, so it makes sense that some couples think canceling for a COVID-related reason would be the best.
Content creator Caroline Parker-Greene shares her wedding experience, where the future bride, also known as her husband’s sister, the groom, and the father-in-law all had the coronavirus at the event.
The nuptial proceedings carried on regardless of the risk of exposure, and guests were encouraged to wear masks.
In a TikTok video, Caroline gives a behind-the-scenes look at the precautions that were taken to make sure that the event went off without a hitch, which raised some concerns for viewers.
At the start of the video, Caroline shares in a subtitle the premise of the wedding that reads: “Everyone has covid wedding” and “bride, groom, father of the bride.”
The bride and groom were seated at a round veranda table in an open room with glass windows that significantly distanced them more than six feet apart from their guests.
The rest of the family and guests were all meant to be inside the reception hall, but it still gave the bride and groom a chance to see inside and feel close to their guests.
The people that dropped out of attendance were many elderly people on the groom’s side, whom she calls “germaphobes” in the video.

“You know, everyone has different levels of comfortability about COVID, so it’s like a weird one,” she says.
“For me, I would be like not wear masks ’cause I feel like that’s just life, but yeah everyone has different comfortabilities,” she states.
Though she said that everyone wore masks for the event, the bride was visibly not wearing her mask when she approached her towards the end of the video to say hello, which worried viewers.
In another video, she also answers many of the questions that critics raised concerning the safety measures at the celebration, including why it wasn’t canceled.
Caroline affirms that in the UK, where she is based, you are not legally required to cancel your wedding if anyone tests positive for the coronavirus.
“Also, most people don’t even test, so it is better to not test and everyone comes or to test and you can tell people and it’s their decision to come,” she explains.
“I think you’re a bit delusional if you don’t think that you aren’t in daily contact with people who have COVID,” she adds.
She says that the serving staff at the wedding was told about the COVID situation and only one bartender didn’t show, while the other showed up and chose not to wear a mask.
Among the precautions they took were self-serve food and drink options, which included a food truck that made pizza outside and one person brought it in and set it on a table.
The bride and groom both wore masks during the social occasion and she swears that they “pretty much sat in another room the whole time.”
The bride was six or seven days since testing positive, so she was out technically out of her quarantine period, while the groom was not.
She mentions in the video that their wedding insurance also did not cover COVID, so it would have been an expense to cancel or reschedule.
The content creator also notes in the video that she will be keeping her daughter out of daycare for a few days after the wedding as an additional health precaution.
Many viewers left remarks in the comment section of the video with some offering support and others confused by the behavior.

“I think the bride, groom and family made the best out of the situation,” another added.
“I can’t say I would have made the same choices, but I think it’s amazing the post precautions you and your family have decided on to protect others,” one viewer shared.
“I’m going on holiday soon, rather than do PCR and risk being positive, I went for a booster so I could travel positive and not know. Need holiday though,” another wrote.
