Paddy McGuinness pays rare tribute to childhood pal Peter Kay admitting ‘I don’t often speak about him’
PADDY McGuinness has paid a sweet tribute to his longtime pal Peter Kay following the news of his sell-out comeback tour.
Due to ‘unforeseen family circumstances’, Peter pulled out of a 14-month, 100-date UK tour in 2017 as well as all work commitments, and disappeared from the spotlight in the aftermath with no official obligations.
He only returned to the stage briefly for charity events, but shocked fans on November 6th when, during the launch of I’m A Celebrity, announced a comeback tour. It sold out in minutes.
Speaking of his pride for his friend, Paddy noted Peter’s achievements, and shared photos from the pair’s comedy career together.
This included pics from Phoenix Nights’ characters Max and Paddy, which proved the breakthrough role the real Paddy needed in order to kickstart his now hugely successful presenting career.
“I don’t often speak about Pete and his achievements on my socials,” Paddy wrote on Instagram. “He’s been a mate since childhood and that’s how I always see him?

“Regardless of all the great things he’s achieved on television there’s literally no one who comes close to what he does live. The amount of tickets he sells is unheard of in the comedy world and beyond!
“He’s a one off folks, enjoy him, I don’t think you’ll see the likes of him again? Certainly not in our lifetime. I’m very proud you son.”
He couldn’t help a cheeky little jab though, and added at the end: “PS I haven’t got tickets. PPS I don’t need any.”

Peter’s upcoming tour will be his first in 12 years, and includes a massive 30-day residency at London’s O2 Arena.
Promising to keep ticket prices at £35 – the same price they were available for when he last performed – fans have been left outraged after queues to buy tickets soared to over 300,000 and touters got hold of them, flogging access to the sought after for a massively inflated price.
Ticket resellers Viagogo are selling off tickets for a September date in Leeds with mark-ups of more than 1,000 percent – just an hour after they were released.
Seats for the Cardiff date sold for £50 are now reselling at £1,180 – more than a 2,300 percent mark-up.
