JEREMY Vine fans were left divided as today’s debate on obesity turned vicious – with some fans raging.
The Channel 5 current affairs programme covered the contentious issue today.
It was debated as part of the show’s ‘extra’ addition, that’s presented by journalist Storm Huntley.
On the panel was TalkTV‘s JJ Anisiobi and Narinder Kaur who clashed over the issue.
“It’s more than just down to the parents,” said JJ. “Those from poorer socio-economic backgrounds are more obese.
“Timing is a factor, if you’ve got a parent that’s working two jobs, you come home from work and just bun something into the microwave so the kid gets fed.
“It’s simple, the math is simple; eat less calories, burn more calories.”

However, Narinder didn’t agree and hit back saying: “I think it’s very dangerous to blame just the parents but I do think parents have got a lot to do with it.”
She continued: “During Covid and lockdown your kids were stuck in the house and it’s a kind of habit that stays cause in two years they’ve got so used to sitting on their phones, being forced to sit in the house.
“The other problem is good food, healthy food is expensive – do you know how expensive fruit and vegetables are?
“It’s hard enough for parents, the rising cost of food and then they have to buy healthy food, that’s double their food bill.”

However, the debate turned vicious on social media as viewers didn’t hold back with their opinions.
“The parents are to blame. You do know the first Humans lived without a Government or large societies. They got on with it. Parents have to take responsibility of their children,” said one viewer.
Another said: “Healthy food is cheap. Processed food is expensive sh*t. Yeah that teamed with video games you can blame the parents.”
“If a kids obese it’s the parents fault! Veg, rice, potatoes etc are cheap and can go a long way,” posted another viewer.
While a fourth viewer tweeted: “Of course you should blame the parents for their child being obese.”
