Kevin McCloud teases ‘saddest ever’ Grand Designs episode in new series – with owner left bankrupt
KEVIN McCloud has teased that the ‘saddest episode ever’ will feature in the new series of Grand Designs.
The 63-year-old designer and presenter appeared on Tuesday’s episode of This Morning to promote the new series.

The show, which is now in its 23rd series, returns to Channel 4 tonight.
However, while speaking to Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield, Kevin revealed viewers should expect tears.
He teased that the ‘saddest episode ever’ will be broadcast.

“We try not to choose programmes that aren’t going to finish,” he told the hosts.
“At the very end of the current series we’ve got a revisit to a project that was filmed two years ago which was this lighthouse in North Devon.”
“That bankrupted the guy,” said Philip.
“We’ve been filming that for 12 years so we went back this summer to see him again and see how the project was going on.

“I’m not going to reveal the state it was in but it was described as the saddest ever episode.”
Despite Kevin’s attempts to avoid spoiling the show, both Holly and Phil joked as they accidentally aired a clip showing the current state of the lighthouse.
Grand Designs returns tonight at 9pm on Channel 4. This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV.
