Democrat Congressional Candidate Celebrates Abortion as She Gives Birth to Her Son
A Louisiana Democrat candidate attracted a lot of attention this week with a new ad that shows her going into labor and talking about the value of her unborn son while advocating for abortion on demand.
The ad comes from the campaign of Katie Darling, a business executive who is challenging U.S. Rep. Steve Scalise, a pro-life Republican, in November. Released Monday, the ad quickly received a lot of attention online, The New York Post reports.
Darling is pregnant at the beginning of the ad as she walks around her family’s farm, talking about how her young daughter helps them raise chickens and grow their own food.
“And there’s someone else who’s going to be joining us and helping to pitch in with farm life very soon,” she says of her unborn son.
Although Darling acknowledges the value of her unborn child, she also supports legislation that would allow viable, late-term unborn babies to be aborted. According to her campaign website, she wants Congress to pass the so-called Women’s Health Protection Act, which would force states to allow abortions for basically any reason up to birth and force taxpayers to pay for them. Pro-life leaders warn the bill also would strip away parents’ rights and religious freedom for doctors and nurses who oppose abortion.

Darling does not mention the bill specifically in the ad, but she does advocate for abortion while describing Louisiana’s pro-life laws as “severe.” Louisiana protects unborn babies by banning abortions except in cases where the mother’s life is at risk.
“Louisiana deserves better than the path we’re on,” she says. “We should be putting pregnant women at ease. Not putting our lives at risk.”
Later, the ad shows her in the hospital giving birth to her son and holding him against her chest.
“I’m running for Congress because I want that better path for you, for her and for him,” Darling concludes.
Talking with USA Today, Darling said she believes the ad is doing well because she focused on issues impacting families.
“I think there are a lot of folks who connect with having a family and dealing with the challenges we face in Louisiana — climate change, education and a severe abortion ban,” Darling told USA Today. “That’s why the ad is resonating with so many people. We knew it would take a special message, so we were thoughtful and mindful of the content and its importance.”
However, Darling’s position on abortion is anti-family. Abortions kill unique and irreplaceable living children before they are born. They are not necessary or freeing for families; on the contrary, many mothers and fathers suffer decades of pain and regret after aborting their unborn babies. A true pro-family position supports every member of the family, including babies in the womb.
Polls consistently show a strong majority of Americans oppose late-term abortions and support legal protections for unborn babies.
