Key Eintracht Frankfurt player misses training ahead of Spurs match
Eintracht Frankfurt playmaker Mario Götze was absent in their training session this morning ahead of the Champions League clash against Tottenham Hotspur tomorrow evening, according to German publication Bild.
The 30-year-old was named in Oliver Glasner’s starting eleven in Saturday’s 2-0 victory at home to Union Berlin and broke the deadlock in the 12th minute of the match.
Götze was substituted during the 66th minute of the second half following a minor twist of his ankle and was seen sporting an ice pack around the area while he watched the remaining minutes of the fixture from the sideline.
It has not been stated whether the former Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund player is a doubt for the visit of Antonio Conte’s side, or whether his absence was purely precautionary ahead of the Group D meeting.

The potential absence of Götze would be an obvious boost for Tottenham, however, they also need to be wary of some of their other players including Daichi Kamada.
Tottenham’s performance defensively against Arsenal on Saturday was way below the standards expected and supporters will be expecting to see a marked improvement and a victory, otherwise, they could face a battle on their hands to qualify for the knockout stages.
