ILCA End of Season Regatta this weekend- we need some help.
As you may be aware the RSGYC will be hosting the ILCA (previously known as the Laser class) End of Season Regatta on Saturday and Sunday. We expect approximately 70 sailors competing so it will be a significant regatta for the Club to host to sign off on what has been a very busy and successful season of regattas after having none in the previous two years.
What do we need help with?
The use of Suitable vessel as Finish Boat:
We have encountered a challenge in that the vessel we had planned to use as a Finish Boat is now not available. If you have a boat (20ft or above power or sail) or know of one that might be available on Saturday and/ or Sunday and you are willing to make it available (and yourself would be welcome) for the regatta as Finish boat, please contact the Sailing Manager and we will be in touch. It would be greatly appreciated and help significantly.
Safety Drivers and Rib or Committee boat crews
If you are available to assist on a rib as Safety crew (or helm with appropriate qualification) or to assist on the Committee boats- please let us know and we will be delighted to get you aboard.
More about this Regatta
This ILCA End of Season Regatta is poignant as many of you know, George member, Laser sailor, and friend Kevin Doyle was injured during a recent regatta. As a result of this accident, he is now having to use a wheelchair and make significant changes in his life. Along with the Irish Laser Association (ILCA Ireland), we are now trying to raise funds for him and his family for his care. We have a target of €20,000, which is above what we had wished for initially, but we are hoping that, as a community, we can raise more. All donations are welcome, and we thank you in advance for all your support. Click here to donate.
Thank you for anything that you can help with.
