DRIVERS may be able to save hundreds of pounds a year on car insurance just by making a simple tweak.
Money blogger Kathryn Leech often shares her best saving tips and hacks on TikTok where she has more than 18,000 followers.
In her latest video, the 26-year-old from Manchester said that by making a small, legitimate change to your job title, you can lower your car insurance premiums.
Of course, you must still be honest and reasonable when applying for car insurance or it could invalidate your policy.
Insurers ask drivers to select from a list of pre-defined job titles when declaring their occupation during the application process.
But a slight tweak can lower your premium, Kathryn said.

Speaking in the video on her account EveryLittlePenny, Kathryn said: “Your job title has a huge impact on how much you pay for your car insurance.
“And just by making a very small but completely legal change to your job title will save you so much money.”
“For example, when I stated that my job title was marketing assistant, my car insurance came to around £700 pounds a year.
“Just by making a small change in my job title, stating that I’m a marketing executive, that saved me £77.”

Kathryn used Martin Lewis’ MoneySavingExperts’s online to demonstrate how drivers can save money.
To use the tool, you can visit the MoneySavingExpert website.
You’ll need to enter in how much you currently pay for insurance and select your job title from a drop down list.
The results will then give you a rough estimate of how you would have to pay for the same policy under a related job title.
For example, a construction worker currently paying £280 a year could see bills slashed to £227 by tweaking their job title to bricklayer, or £118 if they say they work in building maintenance.
Where a hairdresser pays £320 a year, a hair stylist will be charged £311 annually.
Kathryn added: “If I went into something more specific within the marketing roles, such as copywriting, I could save a massive £232 a year off my car insurance.
“So when you’re applying for your car insurance, really think about the job title that you’re putting in and maybe try a few different variations of it.”
Of course, you’ll need to remember that the prices listed are just estimates and your actual quote from an insurance company may vary.
There are also a range of other factors that will affect how much you pay, such as your no claims bonus, any previous claims as well as the make, model and age of your vehicle.
Drivers should shop around for the best car insurance deal, including across multiple comparison sites including Go Compare and MoneySupermarket.
