How do I convince my partner that I really have quit drinking now?
DEAR DEIDRE: EVEN though I gave up drinking weeks ago, my partner won’t take me back.
She says she doesn’t believe I’ve quit for good, as I’ve said it before.
I’m 43 and she is 41. We’ve been together 15 years and have three kids.
She ended our relationship because she hated the person I become when I drink – a nasty and argumentative man.
A month ago, I went out with some workmates and I promised I would stay off the sauce.
But I couldn’t say no to a pint, got carried away and arrived home in a terrible state.
She said enough was enough. I had to move out and I can only see my kids once a week.
Since then, I’ve not touched a drop.

But she says we’re never getting back together.
I don’t know how to prove to her that this time I’ve given up the demon drink for ever.
