Match Preview: Queen’s Park vs Partick Thistle
Partick Thistle are the visitors to Ochilview on Saturday afternoon as the sides meet on league business for the first time since March 2001.
Ahead of the game the club media team spoke to Head Coach Owen Coyle to get his thoughts.
Owen said: “We are all looking forward to the game and expect it to be a great atmosphere. We know we will have a good support to back us and we expect Thistle to bring a sizeable away support so it’s one that we are relishing.”
“We know the challenge that awaits us and it will be a tough one. It’s an opportunity to put the disappointment from last week behind us. We know we can’t affect that result and we know we need to look forward and be ready for the next one, and that’s exactly what we have been doing this week. Each and every game will be a challenge in its own right this season given that we have such a young squad. There’s boys in the squad who haven’t played at this level before so every week there will be learning for us and we need to make sure we do that and continue to progress.”
“We have had a couple of games during the week with a very young team taking on Vale of Leven on Tuesday night and then a closed doors game against Celtic the following day and those types of games are and will continue to be extremely useful for getting players game time, topping up the match fitness and equally as important, allowing the young players to progress. The latter is obviously a route we want to go down, and to see young talent progress into the first team, and these games ultimately assist with that process.”
“With the crowd and atmosphere expected tomorrow we are sure the players will be looking forward to it and keen to go out there and show their qualities. Along with Dundee we know Thistle will be favourites for the title and we know that it’ll be a really good test, but it’s one that we are certainly looking forward to.”
“We have obviously been able to further add to the squad this week with the Malachi Boetang joining on loan. He’s a player who is just starting his journey in the game but one who we know Crystal Palace hold in high regard. We feel that he can assist us in the midfield department we look forward to playing a part in helping his development while he also helps us at the same time.”

Supporters are asked to sit in their designated seats in the stadium. Stewards will assist with this if required.
Regrettably, due to the extremely limited capacity of the Main South Stand, no seat tickets are available for visiting supporters. Seating in the Main South Stand is for home supporters only. Any supporter in this area obviously favouring the visiting team will be ejected.
Travel: The Tryst Road roadworks are now complete.
Pre Match: The Wee Bar within the stadium will be open to home supporters only from 12 noon and then again post match – please note, no under 18s are permitted.
