Paul Mescal's Latest Movie 'Aftersun' Opens The Edinburgh Film Festival in Scotland
Paul Mescal shows off his mustache at the premiere of his latest film, Aftersun, during the 2022 Edinburgh International Film Festival held at OMNI Centre on Friday (August 12) in Edinburgh, Scotland.
The 26-year-old actor joined the films’ director Charlotte Wells and his young co-star, Frankie Corio.
Aftersun centers on Sophie (Corio), who reflects on the shared joy and private melancholy of a holiday she took with her father twenty years earlier.
Speaking with The Scotsman at the event, Paul opened up about acting with Frankie in her first big screen role.
“In my head, it felt that I would be acting with a child who had never acted before, but right from the first chemistry meeting it really did feel like Frankie was acting,” he shared. “I felt a weird duty of care in introducing Frankie to this world and watching her be so good. I was like ‘oh my god – I’m kind of scared for you and thrilled for you at the same time.’”
Paul added, “Working with Frankie was really invigorating. I had a great time with her and I have a huge amount of love for her.”
Aftersun will debut this fall.
