Inside Coronation Street star Jodie Prenger’s ‘feral’ home life with pet cows, rescue chickens and eight dogs
ACTRESS and singer Jodie Prenger recently made her debut in Weatherfield as Glenda Shuttleworth.
Off-screen, however, the Coronation Street actress enjoys time rescuing animals.

“My family are from Manchester, all from Moss Side and they used to have a laundrette and a café shop and my Nan’s brother used to deliver Pat Phoenix’s groceries”, she said while speaking about her stint.
Her character, Glenda, came to the Street and saved the day when her brother George (played by Tony Maudsley) was too high on painkillers.
While she shares similarities with her on-screen alter ego, having worked as a cruise ship singer, Jodie’s lifestyle couldn’t be further away from Glenda’s.
More Corrie stories
As a performer, Jodie has been used to the fancy clothes, hair and makeup.
But when she’s away from the spotlight, she spends her time with her partner Simon and their many animals.
“You wouldn’t recognise me at home”, she said.
“There’s no big hair or false eyelashes when I’m out with the animals. No heels or fancy clothes. There I am in my wellies and, to be honest, I’m feral. I love it!”

Jodie commutes from the Corrie set to her countryside home, located near Preston in Lancashire, explaining: “My fella, Simon, like me being at home and so do my animals.”
“My passion is looking after rescued animals. To be honest, I prefer animals to people! If I didn’t do what I do, I’d devote my life to rescuing animals.”
But the animals Jodie has in her care are nothing short of atypical and include “three rescue cows, three rescue ducks, three cats and three dogs.”
Jodie added: “I also have about 17 rescue chickens including my cockerel, Harry.”

“My poor Harry… he’s not very well at the moment and he just loves having me home every day. I think I’m going to have to get him a little chicken wheelchair if there is such a thing!”
She’s even ready to welcome more: ” “I’d love more animals so if anyone knows of a one-eyed goat or three-legged-pig, I’m just putting that out there…”
As mentioned above, Jodie is loved-up with businessman Simon Booth.
The pair met in 2010 and became engaged two years later but, days after Simon had popped the question, Jodie’s father Marty died unexpectedly from kidney cancer.
“I’ve never experienced the extremes of emotion that I have in the past weeks”, she told HELLO! at the time.
“I’m just so glad Dad knew I was going to be taken care of. Dad loved Simon like a son and always said I’d be safe with him. Simon’s a good man with a good soul, just like my dad.”
