We got married at Escape to the Chateau after falling in love with the show – here’s what it’s really like
A COUPLE from Wales lived our their wedding day dreams after renting out one very famous property.
Lynwen Evans, 56, and Geraint Davies, 58, from Aberdare, have been fans of Channel 4’s Escape to the Chateau for years.
Such big fans, that they decided to exchange their vows at the well-known 45-bedroom castle, Martigné-sur-Mayenne.
Petrol station worker Lynwen and forklift driver Geraint jetted their friends and family out to the French countryside for their big day, hosted by none other than Dick and Angel Strawbridge.
Speaking to Wales Online, Lynwen explained how it came to be.
She said:” We were watching the programme on television and we were looking for a venue to get married and thought it would be an ideal venue.

“We love the place, we watch the programme all the time, so we just decided to get in contact with them to see if we could arrange it.”
Their original wedding date was booked for 2020, but the pandemic dashed their plans, and they re-scheduled to July 2022.
On July 16, Lynwen and Geraint took a huge coach of 42 friends and family members off to Dick and Angel’s chateau for the weekend.
Speaking about their time meeting Channel 4 stars Dick and Angel, Lynwen said: “It was absolutely amazing. Best day ever.

“It was like visiting old friends, they were lovely.”
The hosts were also very involved in the day, attending the ceremony and even hooking up one of Dick’s famous hog roasts.
Angel even made the happy couple some flower arrangements and wedding decorations.
