Wildfire in Liberty Hill grows to 250 acres, prompts evacuations of 200 homes
LIBERTY HILL, Texas (KXAN) — The wildfire that Liberty Hill Fire Department is responding to on Tower Road has grown to 250 acres and is only ten percent contained as of 8:30 p.m. 200 homes are being evacuated, according to a tweet from the Williamson County Office of Emergency Management.
Those evacuating the area are sheltering at Santa Rita Middle School, Williamson County Emergency Management said in a follow-up tweet.
Travis County STAR Flight is also responding to the fire, and assistance from Texas A&M Forest Service was requested as well.
According to Texas A&M Forest Services, the agency is sending multiple aircraft to fight the fire. A DC-10, four air tankers and three "fire bosses" (a small turboprop plane used to fight fires).
