BINMEN have had acid thrown at them and been attacked with baseball bats, a Sun on Sunday investigation has found.
They have also been pelted with objects, while others had cars driven at their trucks by motorists stuck behind them.

Police were called when a truck-delayed driver threw acid on a worker in Sutton, South London.
Oldham Council logged two attacks — one by a householder furious his bin was not returned to the right spot.

The attacks, together with hundreds of incidents of verbal abuse and intimidation, are often triggered by complex recycling rules which lead to bins not being collected.
Darren Rodwell, of the Local Government Association, said: “Any attack on a refuse collector, verbal or physical, is completely unacceptable and would be reported to police.
“Councils take a zero tolerance approach to it.”
