Re: Edgbaston Eng v India
newbluemadReally strict on no cans, bottles etc... Searches will take place
Lord's the only international venue that bucks this trend where they allow you in with 2 cans/bottle of wine and can be even more lax I've found. This may change though as just recently they announced they're banning alcohol at domestic T20
All a far cry from the 1990's when you could take a sack full of cans into a Lord's final or an esky full of stbbies and ice into the SCG
The amount of drinking at the cricket is out of hand though. There was a small group of not young blokes in front of us in a relatively quiet part of Headingley who got through about 10 pints each. Had to listen to how much they loved their grandmothers, who were the salt of the earth and watch them falling over other people on their frequent visits to the bar/toilets. I don’t want to be a spoilsport, but I’d question who is spoiling the sport.
it is but the OTT behaviour is usually restricted to the 'party stands' i think there is an understanding that if you sit in the hollies, western terrace etc then be prepared to be mixing with lots of drunk people
