‘Are you surprised? They can’t react’ – Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville slams BT Sport coverage of Champions League final
GARY NEVILLE blasted BT Sport’s coverage of the Champions League final after viewers were left unaware of the chaos unfolding outside the Stade de France.
Kick-off for the game was delayed by 36 minutes as Reds fans were tear-gassed and pepper-sprayed and thousands were denied entry.
BT Sport’s team, who were positioned inside the stadium, struggled to update viewers with the ongoing situation outside the ground.
And Sky Sports pundit Neville hit out at the rival broadcaster, slamming BT for not reacting to the developing events with Liverpool fans.
He replied to a tweet from The Athletic’s Adam Crafton that said: “Surprised BT sport don’t have a team on standby outside of stadium, getting little to no sense of the major story from the broadcaster.”
Neville slammed on Twitter: “Are you surprised? I’m not.

“They can’t react or aren’t agile to things like this happening.”
Neville continued his tirade by reposting more tweets criticising BT Sport for their coverage of the final.
Instead of filming any of the unsavoury scenes occurring outside the stadium, BT Sport carried on building up to the match normally.
Host Jake Humphrey quizzed Rio Ferdinand, Steven Gerrard and Michael Owen on their thoughts for the game as chaos ensued outside.

Gary Lineker was among the fans stuck outside the ground, labelling the situation as “dangerous” and “absolute carnage”.
Liverpool have demanded a Uefa probe into the scenes that marred the final, which Real Madrid won 1-0.
A club statement said: “We are hugely disappointed at the stadium entry issues and breakdown of the security perimeter that Liverpool fans faced this evening at Stade de France.
“This is the greatest match in European football and supporters should not have to experience the scenes we have witnessed tonight.
“We have officially requested a formal investigation into the causes of these unacceptable issues.”
