From seaside getaways to country escapes, your pup will love these holidays as much as you do

LOOKING for a perfect staycation where you can take your beloved pet while enjoying breath taking views and delicious food? Here we round up three stunning must-visit.

Bike & Boot, Scarborough

LIFE’S a beach in beautiful Yorkshire for Beauty Editor Tara Ledden, her mum Alison and pooch Teddy.

THE PAD

Bike & Boot is a great place to stay, with or without a fur baby

This laid-back, quirky hotel isn’t just dog-friendly, it’s pawsitively dog-crazy! The rooms are spotless – try to book one with sweeping views of South Bay – with special touches for guests with four legs, including blankets and toys.

Pets are welcome throughout the hotel, from brekkie right through to late-night cocktails. Snuggle up in The Retreat lounge area, which serves complimentary hot drinks and cakes every afternoon, with its Film Club showing free movies three times daily.

The Wadobi area, designed for muddy boots, umbrellas and the like, even includes a free pooch-grooming table for a post-beach clean-up.

Bike & Boot is a great place to stay, with or without a fur baby, and it’s proven so popular that they’re soon opening another hotel in the Peak District.

Look no further than on-site restaurant Bareca for great food, local craft ales and seasonal cocktails. We loved the whole baked camembert to share, which comes with beetroot chutney, pine nuts and highly dippable crusty bread, £15.50.

The burger is a beast, complete with house sauce, pickles, tomato, lettuce, bacon, cheese and fries, £14.75. Finish up with a seaside classic ice-cream sundae. Our favourite was the caramel, ginger and chocolate ice cream, with toffee sauce and chocolate chips, £5.50.

The Bell, Ticehurst

Fashion Director Tracey Lea Sayer, husband Lou and dog Reggie recharged on a cosy country weekend.

THE PAD

Situated in the beautiful village of Ticehurst, The Bell is a pub with rooms which warmly welcomes those with two or four leg

Situated in the beautiful, sleepy village of Ticehurst, on the Kent and East Sussex border, this pub with rooms warmly welcomes those with two or four legs. Dating back to the 16th century, quirky features abound – from bowler-hat light fittings to trombone urinals – plus there’s a garden with a fire pit for marshmallow toasting.

There are seven bedrooms and four fairy-tale lodges, all of which allow dogs. Our lodge, Pour L’Amour, lived up to its romantic name with 100 faux roses hanging above our king-sized bed. Reggie was well catered for too, with a bowl, dog bed and treats.

EXPLORE

The four-mile circular walk from The Bell over to Bewl Water takes in beautiful sights and brilliant independent shops. Greenfinch is a relaxed gallery space showcasing local craft makers (Greenfinchshop.co.uk), and The Old Haberdashery sells vintage textiles and cool homeware (Theoldhaberdashery.com).

It’s a 15-minute drive to Scotney Castle, a beautiful 1700s fortress where dogs on leads are welcome to enjoy the walled gardens with you. Adult entry costs £14, children, £7 (Nationaltrust.org.uk/scotney-castle).

Our pick of starters was the home-smoked salmon with trout caviar[/caption]

A 15-minute stroll takes you to cosy, dog-friendly pub The Bull. Tuck into the fried chicken burger with Monterey Jack cheese, lettuce, mayo and onion, £13, washed down with a pint of local Harvey’s ale, £4 (Facebook.com/TheBullInn). Back at The Bell, Reggie was most welcome at our table for a slap-up dinner – there are even sausages for pooches on the menu!

Our pick of starters was the home-smoked salmon with trout caviar, £9, followed by south coast sea bream with saffron gnocchi and a seaweed butter, £25. If that hasn’t filled you up, after vanilla crème brûlée and Yorkshire rhubarb compote, £9, you’ll sleep like a log.

The Merry Harriers, Surrey

Deputy Editor Gayle Schoales, her partner Nick and their Jack Russell puppy Dixie Rose found the country pub of dreams.

THE PAD

The Merry Harriers is a picture-postcard 16th-century village inn complete with inglenook fireplace, timber beams and a relaxed but buzzy vibe

If you could conjure up the perfect spot for a dog-friendly break, it would be The Merry Harriers – a picture-postcard 16th-century village inn complete with inglenook fireplace, timber beams and a relaxed but buzzy vibe.

Nestled in Hambledon in the glorious Surrey Hills, it has boutique rooms plus five luxe shepherds’ huts dotted around a lovely lake.

We chose the latter, and what a treat it was, with underfloor heating, a mini fridge with complimentary bottle of wine, walk-in rainfall shower, fire pit, plus doggy bed, bowls and a new toy for Dixie.

EXPLORE

You’re surrounded by miles of walking and cycling routes through glorious fields and woodland with stunning views, and each room has a handy booklet outlining trails of varying levels of difficulty. Fancy a potter around the shops?

The nearby market town of Godalming has beautiful historic buildings and cobbled lanes. Head to Church Street for independents, including lovely homeware store Wattle & Daub (Wattleanddaubhome.co.uk) and sweetie emporium Godalming Delights for its mint-choc-chip ice cream, £2.50 per scoop (Godalmingdelights.co.uk).
