Dave Chappelle ‘attacker’ Isaiah Lee hit with attempted murder charge for ‘stabbing roommate’
THE man accused of attacking Dave Chappelle onstage earlier this month has been charged with attempted murder in a separate case.
The Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office announced on Thursday that Isaiah Lee, 23, is accused of a stabbing that occurred in December.
The publicity of the attack on Chappelle helped police make an arrest in an alleged stabbing, police said[/caption]Lee allegedly stabbed his roommate during an argument at a transitional housing apartment on December 2, 2021.
The district attorney’s office said that the victim identified Lee as his attacker following reports of Lee allegedly charging Chappelle on May 3.
Lee pleaded not guilty to the new attempted murder charge on Thursday and is scheduled to return to court on June 2, records show.
Lee is also accused of running onstage during Chappelle’s performance for the Netflix is a Joke comedy festival at the Hollywood Bowl and tackling the comedian.

Lee was in possession of a fake gun with a real knife attached to it, police said.
For that incident, Lee was charged with battery, possession of a weapon with intent to assault, unauthorized access to the stage area during a performance, and commission of an act that delays the event or interferes with the performer.
He also pleaded not guilty in that case.
“The publicity generated by the attack on Mr Chappelle helped police solve this crime,” District Attorney George Gascón said in a statement about the alleged attempted murder.

“The incident that occurred at the Hollywood Bowl was misdemeanor conduct and rightfully referred to the City Attorney’s Office.
“Based on the nature and severity of the December attack, Mr Lee is now facing felony charges, which my office will prosecute.”
The stabbing case is still being investigated, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
