The actress called Rey’s death “really crazy [and] shocking.”
As she knew viewers would feel the same way about losing the fan-favorite character, Sharon said she was “worried” while filming the scene where her character learns about his passing.
Knowing how important it was to get everything around Rey’s exit right, the 51-year-old said she “ha a lot of angst about doing the scene.”

The soap star said she was “second guessing” herself and the scene, about whether it would be “good enough or real enough.”
She added: “We did tape the scene several times, so I had several shots at it.
“I did it a little bit differently each time, and I think the one that aired was the final take.
“During taping, I think I got a little more dramatic each time we performed the scene.

“I remember in the final take, my whole face was puffy from crying, and my eyes were red by then, and that one was the most dramatic take.”
Ultimately, fans praised her for her bringing all that she had to her deeply emotional scene last week where she learned that Rey had died in the car crash.
On having to say goodbye to her co-star Jordi, Sharon admitted “it was difficult to shoot the last scene” she had with him.
She added: “It’s always just very, very sad when somebody leaves the show, especially when it’s somebody who you’ve worked with for years.”
The Young and the Restless fans knew for weeks that Jordi was leaving the show, after he revealed that he was fired, but they were left wondering how he’d be written out.
All was revealed last week, starting with Tuesday’s episode, when Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) got into a car accident and fans started wondering if anyone else was involved.
The next broadcast saw her knocked out in her car as it started up in flames, but she survived after Ashland Locke (Robert Newman), who it turned out was driving behind her, got her out and saved her.
At the very end of the episode, fans found out that Rey was driving from the other direction and ended up being killed after crashing into a ditch.
Ashland shared the sad news with Victoria, telling her: “I checked the other car. It had gone into a ditch. It was damaged much worse than either of ours.”
She asked: “And the driver?”
“There was nothing I could do,” he told her sadly. “The other driver didn’t make it.”
Ashland then added: “I hate to be the one to tell you this, but it was someone you know. Rey Rosales.”

The episode came to an end as she just kept repeating to herself over and over, “Oh my God.”
Fans immediately took to Twitter to blast Y&R for not only killing off Rey but for not even giving his character, and the actor who portrays him, the decency of having him throughout the episode.
