This Abortionist Travels From State to State to Kill as Many Babies in Abortions as Possible

Shelly Tien is one of about 50 traveling abortionists in the U.S. who rushes from state to state aborting unborn babies and then leaving their mothers to suffer the consequences on their own.

But Tien and other abortionists often are portrayed as heroes in popular culture for their unnecessary, life-destroying work.

This week, Reuters published a profile of Tien, who works full-time at a Planned Parenthood in Jacksonville, Florida, but also travels to Alabama and Oklahoma to abort unborn babies.

Tien told the news outlet that she does abortions because she believes in the saying “Medicine = science + love.”

But her abortion practice is not based on science, medicine or love for her patients. Almost all of the nearly 1 million abortions in the U.S. every year are medically unnecessary and completely elective, and each kills a patient – a unique, living human child in the womb. Many mothers are harmed by abortion, too, sometimes physically and often emotionally after they realize that their child’s life was destroyed.

According to the report, Tien aborted 18 unborn babies in one day in March: six surgical abortions and 12 with abortion drugs.

In one case, a 22-year-old woman told Tien that she wanted her abortion to be kept secret from her baby’s father because she was worried he would try to convince her to keep their child, according to the report. The only reason she gave in the report for wanting an abortion was because the man was not financially stable.

“I felt as if he was going to try to make me change my mind,” the woman said, Reuters reports. “I don’t want to change my mind.”

Rather than encourage the woman to discuss the matter with the baby’s father or provide information about the many financial resources available to families in need, Tien praised the woman for being “very strong,” according to the report.

“Women are very strong,” she told the woman while giving her abortion pills. “Women do this every day.”

Afterward, Tien rushed off to catch a flight for her next abortion job in another state – leaving the woman and others without her follow-up services if they suffer complications later.

Tien is one of many. According to the National Abortion Federation, the U.S. has about 50 traveling abortionists who go from state to state doing abortions. Without them, some states would be abortion-free.

Here’s more from Reuters:

Abortion clinics in at least six states – including those in Oklahoma and Alabama where Tien works – rely entirely on out-of-state doctors to provide abortions.

Safety concerns and the stigma around abortion keep many local doctors in conservative states from performing abortions, said Zack Gingrich-Gaylord, a spokesperson for Trust Women Oklahoma.

This is a common claim from abortion activists, but the pro-life movement is dedicated to peaceful, non-violent actions to restore unborn babies’ right to life. The truth is that most doctors cannot in good conscience end the lives of their unborn patients in elective, unnecessary abortions, because they recognize that real medicine serves the needs of all patients, born and unborn.

Tien, however, said she is committed to doing abortions. When asked about the possibility of Roe v. Wade being overturned, she told Reuters that she plans to continue her abortion work “always.”

“My plan is to always do abortions,” she told the news outlet. “I’ll do it legally, and I’ll follow whatever state restrictions and regulations are in place. What that actually will look like, I’m not entirely sure.”

If the U.S. Supreme Court overturns Roe, the Guttmacher Institute estimates 26 states “are certain or likely to ban abortions.” Researchers estimate abortion numbers would drop by about 120,000 in the first year and potentially even more in subsequent years if the high court allows states to ban abortions again.

Meanwhile, pro-life advocates are working to expand support services for pregnant and parenting families in need so that every mother and father and every child have the resources to thrive.
