Report: PL club to complete signing of former Spurs star in coming days
Brentford are set to complete the signing of former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen in the coming days, according to the Mirror.
Eriksen, 29, has not played a minute of competitive action since suffering a cardiac arrest during Denmark’s group game against Finland at Euro 2020 last summer.
He was released by Inter Milan last month with Serie A rules preventing players from taking part if they have an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) fitted, which Eriksen had an operation to install.
Eriksen has spent the last few days training with former club Ajax and the side’s youth team (De Telegraaf) to reacquaint him with an intense training environment.
The Mirror reports that he is now on the verge of finding a new club, with Brentford set to announce the signing of the midfielder ‘inside the next 72 hours’ – which they wrote 39 hours ago.
The report states Eriksen had offers on the table from a host of Premier League sides as well as Dutch and German clubs.
However, it adds that he wants to join the Bees under compatriot Thomas Frank to give him the ‘best chance’ of making the Denmark squad at the World Cup in Qatar later this year.

This is amazing news for Eriksen who has worked so hard to make sure he can continue his career. Officials have obviously deemed it safe enough for him to make his return, so it would be a great story if he was to grab a place in Denmark’s World Cup squad at the end of the year.
