NFL week 17 tips, predictions, free bets and sign up offers: Five bets to look out for this week

Rams (-3.5) @ Ravens – 18:00

The Rams were up to 25 on their reserve/Covid list on the 17^th December.

Fortunately for them, that number should be right down by Sunday and I like the look of them covering against a Ravens team smarting from a beatdown by the Bengals.

There’s no guarantee that Lamar Jackson returns from injury and while Josh Johnson is a reasonable backup, he may well struggle against a Rams defense that has forced 42 sacks this season; Sixth most in the league.

The Rams will be looking to sure up their Playoff seeding and they do that here with a win by a score.

Prediction: Rams 30 Ravens 23 (Rams -3.5)

Giants @ Bears (-6) – 18:00

Congratulations Giants, you’ve now made my ‘Never underestimate how bad this team is when betting on their games’ list.

Talk about a team in the tank, that’s now four consecutive losses by a score or more, and five from the last six games.

The Bears will be moving on from Matt Nagy soon, but they seem to have enough pride to continue playing for wins.

They also have a top-five defense in passing yards allowed per game, total passing yards allowed and sacks.

With Daniel Jones done for the year, either Jake Fromm or Mike Glennon (or both) will have to face the music at Soldier Field. Yikes. Take the Bears to cover in a low-scoring game.

Prediction: Giants 6 Bears 17 (Bears -6)

Buccaneers (-13) @ Jets – 18:00

If the Bucs had all their starters this line would be covered by half time.

As it is, it seems a little high but I still have faith in the reigning champs.

Players who were on the fringes/not getting many big plays stepped up against the Panthers.

We saw the likes of Cyril Grayson and Ke’Shawn Vaughn shine, which will no doubt please Tom Brady.

Even with no HC Bruce Arians, Shaq Barrett or Lavonte David, I still expect the Bucs defense to make Zach Wilson’s life a misery.

I also expect to see Defensive Coordinator Todd Bowles add another great gameplan to his CV and show why the Raiders and Jags are reportedly interested in bringing him to their franchises as a Head Coach.

Take the cover, as cannons repeatedly get fired at Metlife.

Prediction: Buccaneers 28 Jets 10 (Buccaneers -13)

Texans @ 49ers (-12.5) – 21:05

There’s always one big spread a week that doesn’t get covered and Texans fans, this week I’m giving your team love!

I said weeks ago in this column that Davis Mills was nowhere near good enough to play in the NFL.

I apologise. He’s showing more at the moment than pretty much any other QB rookie (with the possible exception of Mac Jones) and helped form a fairly unstoppable offense against the Chargers.

The Niners have woken up and have started scoring heavily.

I’m not saying that they lose but I don’t see a blowout either, providing the Texans keep up their offensive play from last week. It could well be a fun game.

Prediction: Texans 24 49ers 31 (Texans +12.5)

Cardinals @ Cowboys (-5.5) – 21:25

The wheels have fallen off for the Cardinals and now they have to go on the road, to face a Cowboys team that is rolling, and have just scored 56 points against a divisional rival. Good luck…

The Cowboys have five more INTs than any other team, which isn’t good news for Kyler Murray, who has thrown five picks in the last five games.

If they lose the turnover battle, I feel it’s curtains for them. All the momentum is with Dallas, and other than that freak result against Denver have been imperious in their own stadium. This is my bet of the week.
