THE top seaside holiday hotspot in the UK for 2022 has been revealed – and it isn’t in Cornwall.
Not only that, but second place of best holiday hotspots for 2022 was also given to North Yorkshire destination Scarborough.
Cornwall didn’t miss out entirely, with Crantock and Newquay making the top 10 to add to the bucket list next year.
Of the 10 destinations on the list, all of them were coastal destinations, excluding Bowness-on-Windermere in Cumbria.
Earlier this year, founder of Whitby-based Hendersons Estate Agents Nick Henderson, praised Whitby’s popularity, telling the Yorkshire Post: “Whitby is becoming increasingly popular across the country.”
“Its reputation as one of the hottest holiday destinations in the UK has never been higher, fuelled not only by the unique beauty of the town and the surrounding countryside, but also by the quality of its retail and leisure offering with outstanding shops and restaurants.”
Whitby is also known for its Abbey, the founding point for the town that dates back to 656 AD, and Church Street which is a cobbled street with cottages and houses dating from the 15th century.

Tourists are also drawn to the North Yorkshire town because of its link with Bram Stoker’s novel Dracula.
The author stayed at a guest house in the town’s Royal Crescent property in the late 19th century, and drew inspiration for his famous novel ‘Dracula’ from Whitby Abbey and the surrounding area.
And the Travelodge sale has hotel rooms across the UK for 50 per cent off.
