LA County cities break rainfall records Thursday
Several cities in Los Angeles County broke daily rainfall records Thursday, forecasters said.
Downtown Los Angeles, measured in the area of the University of Southern California campus, logged 2.34 inches as of Thursday at 6 p.m., breaking the previous Dec. 30 record of 1.86 inches in 1936.
Bob Hope Airport in Burbank logged 1.9 inches, almost exactly double the previous record for the day from 1951.
Long Beach Airport also broke its previous Dec. 30 record of 0.98 inches in 1981, registering 2.07 inches Thursday.
Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) received 3.09 inches breaking the old record of 1.5 inches in 1981.
