Sports briefs: Terra Linda tops San Marin in non-league tilt
Molly Young scored in the first half and Kaya Lash scored in the second to lead the Terra Linda High girls soccer team to a 2-0 non-league victory against San Marin on Saturday.
Young’s goal came in the 11th minute and was unassisted. Lash doubled the advantage in the 48th minute, assisted by Chippy Taylor.
Goalie Colette Bissey picked up the clean sheet for TL. The MCAL regular season kicks off on Nov. 30.
Prep football
St. Vincent de Paul got some contributions from Marin residents as it advanced to the North Coast Section Division VII title game following a 25-20 win against Clear Lake on Saturday.
Killian Collins caught one pass for 21 yards on offense and added six tackles, a sack and a blocked pass on defense. Riley Gilfillan had a pair of tackles while Mac Cauz and Dominic Minton had three assisted tackles.
Top-seeded St Vincent battles No. 2 St. Helena in the final at 6 p.m., on Saturday at Petaluma High.
Track and field
Justin Shern was victorious in the Boys 11-12 division 4,000-meter race to lead the Marin Waves at Pacific Association XC Championships on Saturday at Folsom High.
Shern won the event with a time of 10 minutes, 46 seconds.
Other Waves runners to finish inside the top 10 were Aaryaa Bangar (ninth, girls 7-8 2,000m), Erhan Elliott (fifth, boys 11-12 3,000m), John Harris (fourth, boys 11-12 3,000m), and Ian Sharp (10th, boys13-14 4,000m).
