Hythe Town vs. Maidstone United
Thursday’s pre-season friendly will be a trip down memory lane for the Stones’ faithful.
Hakan Hayrettin takes his team to Hythe Town, managed by former club captain Steve Watt. The home of the Cannons – Reachfields – was always a popular one back in the Kent League days, with its clubhouse views and one of the biggest match day burgers! (Not that we’re food-obsessed).
As well as reacquainting yourself with this coastal favourite, there’s also a chance to catch-up with some very familiar faces. Watty’s squad includes Stones’ legends in Alex Brown, Alex Flisher, Frannie Collin and James Rogers. Academy graduate Will Godmon is between the sticks and 16-year-olds Bradley Ihionvien and Morgan Williamson – who play for Stones under-23s – are also in the line-up.
Maidstone go into the game 48-hours after playing Chatham Town, a match that gave everybody some much needed minutes on the pitch.
