Tottenham in Cristian Romero transfer boost as Atalanta close in on Augsburg defender Felix Uduokhai as replacement
TOTTENHAM have received a boost in their pursuit of Atalanta and Argentina defender Cristiano Romero.
The 23-year-old is currently a Juventus player, but spent last season on loan at fellow Serie A side Atalanta.

According to recent reports, Atalanta could choose to sign the centre-back for £21.5million before selling him on immediately.
And now it looks increasingly likely that the Italian side will either move him on swiftly or not try to sign him permanently at all.
That is because they are now thought to be lining up a move for Augsburg central defender Felix Uduokhai.
SPORT1 journalist Florian Plettenberg tweeted: “Atalanta is strongly interested in the central defender [Uduokhai] from FC Augsburg/Germany.
“Talks have already taken place. Price tag over €15m. He is supposed to replace Cristian Romero, who is facing a move to Spurs.”
Uduokhai, who joined Augsburg permanently from Wolfsburg last summer, has been competing at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games for Germany over the past week.
But the Germans failed to qualify for the quarter-finals of the competition after drawing their final game with Ivory Coast.

Meanwhile, it was previously reported that if Atalanta do sign Romero and then try to move him on that they will hold out for £52m.
Earlier this summer, Manchester United reportedly failed in their bid to sign Romero as they saw a £39m offer rejected.
Spurs are looking to sign a new central defender following the departure of Toby Alderweireld.
The 32-year-old left Spurs after spending six years at the club, joining Al-Duhail SC in Qatar for a fee deemed to be in the region of £13m.
