LUCAS VALLEY
Work set to begin
on tight road curve
Construction is set to begin Monday on a dangerous Lucas Valley Road turn where truck rigs have repeatedly slipped off the road.
The Marin County Department of Public Works will oversee the $2.25 million project just east of the Big Rock trailhead. The road will be realigned to soften the sharp turn where several crashes have occurred over the years.
The project will also include a new 135-foot retaining wall, storm drain improvements and a new guardrail.
Traffic closures are expected throughout the project, which is expected to be completed in mid-November.
