Man goes missing at Tunitas Creek Beach
SAN MATEO COUNTY – A 36-year-old transient man is presumed drowned after he went missing Thursday morning at Tunitas Creek Beach in San Mateo County, authorities said.
Deputies were called to the beach at 5 a.m. for a report of a “male subject who was in the water and distressed,” the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
Friends of the man, who was identified as Florentino Suan Pasco Jr., told deputies he wandered off at 4 a.m. and did not return. They were unable to find him and believed he went into the water.
The sheriff’s office, along with the U.S. Coast Guard and the San Mateo County Harbor Patrol, searched the area using a helicopter, boat and a drone, but they did not find Pasco.
“All efforts to locate Florentino were exhausted and he was not located,” the sheriff’s office said.
