ENGLAND got their Euro 2020 challenge off to the perfect start as Raheem Sterling’s goal saw off Croatia at Wembley.

The Three Lions are now in a superb position to qualify from Group D and welcome Auld Enemy Scotland to the Home of Football on Friday night.

Fans are back in the stands and the country is right behind Gareth Southgate’s men, who are looking to end 55 years of hurt by winning a major trophy.

The Three Lions were one of the ante-post favourites to lift the cup and SunSport is on hand to bring you the very best England bets ahead of a jam-packed month.

There’s plenty of attacking flair in this Southgate side, even if he’s sometimes criticised for blunting it to shield a shaky defence.

How far will England progress?

Let’s face it – we’re all going to get giddy now that England have made a decent start.

After the year we’ve all had, you’re allowed to get a little bit excited.

But the way this tournament is set up, with Wembley front and centre of the schedule, England have arguably never had a better chance.

Incredibly, the Three Lions are actually just 11/2 to end 55-years of hurt this summer.

There’s real value elsewhere though and we’re happy to take the price on England reaching the semi-finals.

That’s an excellent 13/8 and is a safer bet with the potential schedule looking favourable should the Three Lions get past the last-16.

Winning the group would put them on a collision course with the so-called Group of Death and a probable clash against Portugal, Germany or France.

Negotiate past that game and the competition really opens up – so don’t miss out on those early prices.

Second game – England vs Scotland (Friday, 8pm)

It’s the one we’ve all been waiting for.

England having home advantage for this match is huge and Wembley will be absolutely rocking for the first competitive clash between the two nations since 1996.

And we all know what happened then.

England flew out of the blocks against Croatia and should have scored early, only to tire in the stifling afternoon heat.

There will be no such issues at 8pm on Friday, with Southgate having the luxury of a talented squad to rotate if he feels the need.

Not that Scotland don’t have their own stars and this will definitely be a tough test for the Three Lions.

But they were defensively suspect against Czech Republic and David Marshall was embarrassed from halfway by the sublime Patrik Schick.

Should the England boss stick to his guns and keep the same front three as versus Croatia, we can see Kane breaking his duck for the tournament.

The Tottenham forward had one glorious chance in the opener – which he put into orbit from five yards – but you’re pretty much guaranteed at least one golden opportunity per game with Kane.

We think he’ll be too strong for the Scottish centre-backs of Grant Hanley and Liam Cooper, so back Kane to score first with confidence at 29/10.

And we’re quite happy to back him to double up – ala Romelu Lukaku – at a hefty 7/2.

We’re expecting a fast start from the Three Lions again and if they get an early goal, over 2.5 goals will be in play at 4/5.

Take them to be leading at the break and weather a second half storm to take the spoils.
