Google Maps user finds spooky ‘phantom building’ that ‘is not real’ hovering in Manchester
A GOOGLE Maps user has found a spooky ‘phantom building’ that doesn’t appear in real life, hovering in Manchester.
Twitter user @iiboharz reported the phenomena, which appeared on Google Maps next to Manchester Magistrates Court.
The building, on Manchester’s Bridge St was clearly out of place[/caption] The Twitter user created confusion with her post about the ‘phantom’ buildings[/caption]The user, who went by the name Kimberley, tweeted: “What the f*** are these weird phantom buildings on Google Maps.
“They’re just clipping into other buildings. They’re not real. WTF.”
The image, a screenshot of Google Maps, shows a group of buildings planted in the middle of a cluster of high-rise apartment buildings in the city.
While the buildings are the same style as those around them, they don’t seem to fit in the setting.
One of the imposter buildings sits diagonally to the one beside it.
It also appears to intersect with other buildings on Manchester’s Bridge street, in between the swanky Lowry Hotel and the local Magistrates Court.

One prankster claimed the building was in fact real.
“Speak for yourself i live there,” said @revengehog.
The original tweeter seemed to still be perplexed about the situation some hours later, having followed up with another tweet saying: “I still genuinely don’t know where these phantom buildings came from or where their textures are coming from”.
But the next day, they revealed a possible answer – in caps.
“OKAY ACTUALLY I JUST FIGURED IT OUT??” their tweet read.

While it was not clear whether this was in fact what had happened, it seemed highly possible.
Google has been approached for comment.
