Bills Being Disrespected by Projected 2021 Win Total
Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills entered the 2020 season with plenty of doubters. Within the first month of the season, Allen silenced them all. He averaged 331.5 passing yards per game while accounting for 15 total touchdowns to 1 interception over his first four appearances.
He never looked back from there, leading the team to a 13-3 record and an appearance in the AFC Championship Game. But it looks like the folks at FanDuel Sportsbook aren’t believers quite yet.
Looking at FanDuel Sportsbook’s projected 2021 win totals, the Bills’ projection feels disrespectful to one of the AFC’s top teams.
Bills Win Total
FanDuel Sportsbook has set the over/under for the Bills’ win total at 10.5. Considering this team went 13-3 last season, this line feels very low –– especially since the NFL has added an extra 17th game to the calendar.
Looking at the team’s roster, it’s hard to find anything that suggests Buffalo is primed for a major regression. Other than John Brown, who was replaced with a superior receiver in Emmanuel Sanders, the team didn’t really lose any key contributors.
Beyond Sanders, Buffalo also addressed one of its biggest weaknesses from last year, adding a ton of talent to the pass-rushing unit. The Bills generated pressure at a bottom-10 rate in 2020, but they spent their first two picks on highly-touted pass-rushers in Gregory Rousseau and Carlos Basham Jr.
Coming off a remarkable 13-3 season, Buffalo kept the band together. The Bills actually added far more talent than they lost. Pair that improving roster with the potential for another developmental leap from their 24-year-old quarterback, and it’s hard to figure out why the team’s projection is so low.
Expect Allen and the Bills to prove a ton of people wrong again in 2021.
