The Mariners got off to a fast start this season, jumping out to an 11-6 record, but they’ve dropped to just 18-17 for the year. That puts them 2.5 games behind the Athletics in the AL West standings, and their offense has been the biggest reason for their struggles. They rank 22nd in wRC+, 28th in OPS, and dead last in batting average.
The Mariners will look to get a shot in the arm by calling up Kelenic, who is one of the best prospects in baseball. According to FanGraphs, he entered the season as the No. 4 prospect, and he’s posted a 216 wRC+ through 20 appearances at the Triple-A level this season. He should take over as an everyday player immediately in the outfield, and he’s intriguing enough that he deserves to be added in fantasy leagues. Taylor Trammell has been optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding roster move.
The Mariners next take the field Tuesday vs. the Dodgers, and they’re currently listed at +2100 to win the AL West on FanDuel Sportsbook.
