FANS TREATED TO A GREAT SHOW AT MARSHFIELD’S SPRING EVE OPENER!
Marshfield, WI, (April 18, 2021) – The Spring Opener, Eve of Destruction, was long awaited by many fans and drivers, after a long winter and the expected excitement of the first Eve of Destruction event in the Midwest.
Event cars and fans started rolling into Marshfield Motor Speedway hours before gates opened. With the pits full of competitors, the packed grandstands, fans were surely in for an afternoon full of excitement and destruction!
In tribute to our National Anthem, the day began as all the competitors did a 3-4 wide parade lap, saluting the playing of the “Star-Spangled Banner,” a poem written by Francis Scott Key in 1814, after witnessing the bombardment of Fort McHenry during the Battle of Baltimore in the War of 1812.
The day’s events began as many competitors competed in the Burnout Contest. As Austin Strasser sent billowing clouds of burnt rubber smoke into the grandstands, fans overwhelmingly selected Austin as the winner of the Burnout Contest.

Marshfield Motor Speedway would like to thank each and every competitor, crew help, fans, and employees for helping make the Spring Opener Eve of Destruction a huge success. “The competitors of these Eve cars have special skill sets in operating their cars, it’s simply amazing to watch them,” said GM/Promoter Wayne Brevik. This year, and moving forward, all area tracks have implemented identical rules for Eve cars. This way, drivers know that by building an Eve car, they know they can compete at any track without worrying about separate rules at different tracks. This year, as a safety measure, all tracks implemented a “Raceceiver.” A Raceceiver allows the track race director to communicate with all drivers at the same time. Whether it is a caution or red flag being presented, or even a line up issue, the race director can communicate with the drivers. Brandon Aschenbrenner, Race Director at Marshfield Motor Speedway stated, “The drivers in today’s event realized how important it was to have a Raceceiver plugged into their ear.” Ashchenbrenner further stated, “Safety is our number one priority, and by me being able to communicate with drivers on the track, even puts our great fans at ease.” Kyle Rasmussen, a former long-time race car driver at MMS, and current competitor at Eve of Destruction events across the State said, “By having the Raceceiver in place in all cars, really helped the safety measure, and was well overdue in our cars.” Marshfield’s Official Starter/Flagman Geno Eckes stated, having the race director communicate with the drivers on the track, could possibly save a life some day, and really helped the show move along today.”
Marshfield Motor Speedway will post an album of pictures of Eve events, on their Facebook page late Wednesday or early Thursday morning.
Marshfield Motor Speedway will have their first race event of the year, Saturday afternoon, May 8th! Super Late Models, Midwest Dash Series, Bandits, 6-Shooters, 2-Man Crusiers, and the Skidders, will all be in actions! The next Eve of Destruction at Marshfield Motor Speedway is slated for Saturday, July 3rd, with many Daredevil events and a Fireworks Extravaganza!
