I’m desperate to get my girlfriend back but she’s adamant we’re over
DEAR DEIDRE: I’M gutted that my girlfriend has broken up with me.
I thought she was happy, but she told me out of the blue that the spark had gone.
She’s 24 and I’m 28. We had been dating for 10 months and I should have seen the signs when she turned me down for sex three times.
She came out with the old phrase, “It’s not you, it’s me” and I thought maybe she’d gone off sex – but it turned out she’d gone off me.
I’m running out of ideas about how to get her back.
I’ve bought her flowers and sent romantic texts, but she’s adamant we’re over.

DEIDRE SAYS: A break-up is hurtful, but you can’t make somebody feel something they don’t feel.
If the spark has gone, then getting her back will just give you false hope.
A good relationship is about you both feeling connected to one another.
If she doesn’t contact you, I’m afraid it’s best to accept it’s over and learn from this experience.
My support pack called Moving On will help.
