Paper Talk: Man Utd, Liverpool go head to head for £40m Morocco forward
Liverpool and Manchester United are keen to sign a prolific Moroccan striker, a key figure is set for talks over a new Chelsea deal, while Monday’s transfer gossip has the latest on Alexandre Lacazette’s future at Arsenal.
MAN UTD, LIVERPOOL CHASE EN-NESYRI
Sevilla’s Youssef En-Nesyri is a man in demand with reports claiming Liverpool and Manchester United are both plotting huge moves.
The striker has earned a reputation as one of LaLiga’s most exciting frontmen this season. The Moroccan has netted 24 goals in 49 appearances in all competitions.
En-Nesyri was the subject of a failed £27m approach from West Ham in January as they sought to replace Sebastien Haller.
However, Estadio Deportivo, via several English newspapers, now claims they are willing to sell the 23-year-old this summer. And according to the report, both United and Liverpool have both made En-Nesyri a top target.
The paper claims Sevilla are willing to sell too if the price is right. They believe they can make their forward the most expensive transfer exit in their history with a sum of €46m (£40m) being touted.
That would represent a decent profit from the €25m spent to sign him from Leganes in January 2020. However, financial pressures means they now need to cash in. His sale would also mean Sevilla can retain the services of another of their top stars, Jules Kounde.
Kounde has been linked with several sides too this summer. But he is considered more vital to their long-term plans amid reports of a €65m approach.
However, the chase for En-Nesyri does not stop with the Premier League duo. Reports last month suggested Borussia Dortmund had targeted him as a replacement for Erling Haaland.
