FORMER Olympian Khetag Pliev had his finger RIPPED OFF during a live MMA fight.
Pliev, who represented Canada in the 2012 Games, suffered the gruesome injury at a Cage Fury Fighting Championships bout at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia.
The fight, against Devin Goodale in the co-main event of CFFC 94, was broadcast live on the UFC’s Fight Pass streaming service.
Goodale was declared the winner by second-round technical knockout after referee David Osaghae noticed between rounds that Pliev’s left ring finger was no longer attached to his hand.
According to journalist Timothy Wheaton, the audience were asked to help search for the missing finger.
Eventually, ESPN confirmed 37-year-old Pliev’s finger was found and re-attached by surgeons at a nearby hospital.
CFFC president Rob Haydak revealed the detached digit had been lodged in Pliev’s glove.
Afterwards, winner Goodale, 28, said: “I can’t remember anything, I don’t know.
“I got hit by something big, I don’t remember what happened. I’m just being honest. I don’t remember what happened.
“I’ll have to watch the tape myself, I don’t remember anything.”

Ex-WWE star CM Punk, who lost his two UFC fights, commentated the fight, and was equally baffled by the incident.
Punk, 42, said: “I don’t understand exactly what happened.
“We’re not going to replay it for you, ladies and gentlemen, but it wasn’t a compound fracture.
“It wasn’t a dislocation, a break, a laceration. His finger was just gone. It’s gone. It fell off, ripped off.”
Pliev told ESPN’s Marc Raimondi he wanted to continue fighting despite the freak injury and revealed his sewn together finger.
He said: “In the second round, he caught my glove with one hand and held it. I felt my finger snapped.
“He kept pulling my glove and my finger snapped. We kept fighting. When the second round was finished, I see my [bone] was out in the open.
“I wanted to keep fighting, because I felt like I had this guy. But the doctor saw that and stopped the fight.”
Promoter Haydak added: “It was crazy. He didn’t even flinch.
“He was getting ready to do the [official] decision and I was like, ‘Uh, guys, get him out of the cage and go put his finger back on’.”
