Four Car Reserve List For 2021 Le Mans 24 Hours
A four car reserve list for the 2021 Le Mans 24 Hours – set to take place on the 21-22 August – has been published by race organisers the ACO.
They will be allowed to compete in the event of another competitor’s withdrawal, in the order established on the list.
1st reserve – # 62 – LMGTE Am – AF CORSE – ITA – Ferrari 488 GTE EVO – Christophe Ulrich / Simon Mann / Sergei Sirotkin
2nd reserve – # 27 – LMP2 – ALGARVE PRO RACING – PRT – Oreca 07-Gibson – Mark Patterson / Naveen Rao
3rd reserve – # 59 – LMGTE Am – GARAGE 59 – GBR – Aston Martin Vantage AMR – Alexander West
4th reserve – # 61 – LMGTE Am – AF CORSE – ITA – Ferrari 488 GTE EVO – Francesco Piovanetti
The ACO add that the list was established according to the following criteria:
Competitor’s sporting and technical quality;
Interest to the public, fans and the media;
Commitment and loyalty of competitors in the ACO series (such as Asian Le Mans Series, European Le Mans Series, etc.).
DSC is aware of several other teams that actively considered an application but opted not to complete the process, including DragonSpeed USA who looked into the viability of entering their BR1 Gibson LMP1 into the Hypercar class in grandfathered form but opted not to progress the option.
