FanPost Friday: Pick your 2021 Mariners standout pitcher
Because using “breakout” or any mention of things breaking in the same sentence with pitchers seems very unwise
Welcome to the first FanPost Friday of the regular 2021 season! We made it! Holy moly, what a weird and wild Opening Day for the Mariners. I will certainly take a bullpen meltdown/bad defense comeback win over a boring shutout loss any day. Onward and upward for this young team!
Real quickly here, I want to point out our 2021 Lookout Landing Community GuideLLines post in case you missed it. We tried to make it as comprehensive as possibly for both new readers and oLLd hands alike, just to review some standards and talk about how things have changed here over the years. We don’t care when you got here, we’re just glad to have you in the community, so welcome!
Okay, so last week we talked breakout position players for 2021 and commenters were chomping at the bit to talk Mariners pitchers, so that’s what we’re doing this week. But first, last week’s poll winners:
Breakout Players
Top Tier: Ty France (excellent choice, viva France)
Other Guys: Tom Murphy (a bit suspect so far, to be quite honest!)
Bonus Question: Between vets Kyle Seager and Mitch Haniger, who will post a higher fWAR total in 2021?
Winner: Mitch Haniger, by quite a bit! (This disrespect to the elder Seager will not stand)
Okay, let’s move onto the pitchers!
Who is your pick among the starters and relievers to have an absolute standout season?
The bullpen!
BONUS QUESTION
All right, have a great weekend folks, enjoy some real live Mariners baseball games that count, and keep wearing your masks in public places! Be safe!
