Joe Biden orders FIRST military attack of presidency as US carries out revenge airstrike on Iran-backed militia in Syria
THE United States lodged an airstrike in Syria on Thursday hitting a structure it believes belongs to Iran-backed militia.
It appeared to be the US’s first response to rocket attacks that were launched against American targets in Iraq last week, according to two officials.
Thursday’s airstrike was limited in a manner that could possibly lower the chance of tensions escalating.
President Joe Biden approved the airstrike, the officials said.
The US’s decision to hit Syria but not Iraq allows the latter to launch its own probe into the attack on February 15 that hurt American soldiers.
Whether there were any casualties and property damage was not immediately known.
