Scotland’s Six Nations clash with France in fresh doubt as entire French squad forced to isolate AGAIN
SCOTLAND’s Six Nations clash with France is in fresh doubt after the French camp were forced to isolate AGAIN.
It was only yesterday that it was confirmed this weekend’s game in Paris would go ahead as planned despite a Covid-19 outbreak among the France squad.
The decision came after subsequent rounds of testing earlier this week revealed no further cases.
However, French rugby chiefs have now confirmed there has been a further positive test and the ENTIRE squad are now isolating.
In a statement on Twitter, they said: “Following the RT-PCR tests carried out on Wednesday, February 24, and the appearance of a positive test within the playing squad, the FFR medical committee met this morning and decided to suspend training today.
“The entire group is in isolation in accordance with the health protocol.
“The FFR is in close contact with the Six Nations committee.”
Scotland‘s clash with France was initially thrown into doubt after French boss Fabien Galthie and 10 of his players tested positive for Covid-19.
The coach received his result last week before Antoine Dupont, Julien Marchand, Arthur Vincent, Mohammed Haouas and Gabin Villiere’s results were confirmed over the weekend.
France captain Charles Ollivon, Cyril Baille, Peato Mauvaka, Romain Taofifenua and Brice Dulin were subsequently added to that list.

However, the Six Nations announced yesterday that Sunday’s clash would still go ahead as planned.
Though they admitted they would continue to monitor the situation.
It read: “Further to a meeting of the Six Nations Testing Oversight Group this morning to review the latest tests results of the French squad, the Six Nations confirm the plans to stage the France v Scotland match as originally scheduled this coming Sunday.
“We continue to monitor the situation very closely and are in regular contact with both unions.”
Gregor Townsend’s men are currently fourth in the Six Nations table, four points behind unbeaten France at the top.
However, postponement of this weekend’s match could cause chaos with a champion unable to be crowned until all fixtures are played.
