[Women's Soccer] Women's Soccer Complete Comeback Over Providence Christian, Improves to 1-0-1
TEMECULA, Calif. -- Starting the game with 10 players is not an ideal start. Neither was falling behind 1-0 in the first 27 seconds of the game.
But the SDCC women's soccer team responded with a goal five minutes later, and outscored the Sea Beggars 3-0 in the second half to defeat PCC 4-2.
The win improves the Hawks to 1-0-1 on the season and gave the Sea Beggars their second loss of the season.
In the first minute, Alyssa Acuna recived a through ball from Chanel Cundy, who slotted it home with a goal in the first 30 seconds. Emilie Larson and the Hawks responded with a goal in the 6th minute. Larson wiggled her way through the defense to square the match at 1-1. PCC added their second goal in the 36th minute and led at the halftime break 2-1.
Isabella Coronado knotted the game at 2-2 with an unassisted goal in the 64th minute. Kaylee Kruz recorded the eventual game-winner in the 67th minute. Two minutes later, Ashlyn Edwards, SDCC's leading goal-scorer, added the insurance goal off a pass from Rebecca Hernandez to cap all scoring.
Faith Valenzuela won her first game of the season. She faced 14 shots and saved seven. Larson and Edwards both attempted five shots.
The Hawks are back on the pitch Monday as they travel to La Sierra. Kickoff is schedule for 5 p.m.
