Your favorite wrestling stars - both old and new - are heading to Peacock. On March 18, The NBCUniversal streaming service will become the exclusive streaming home for WWE Network in the US.
The deal includes access to all of WWE Network's action-packed events, including pay-per-views like "WrestleMania" and "SummerSlam." Peacock subscribers will also be able to watch original series like "Undertaker: The Last Ride" and "Steve Austin Broken Skull Sessions." Older events, including past "World Championship Wrestling" and "Extreme Championship Wrestling" matchups, will be available as well.
Currently, WWE Network content is available to stream through the standalone WWE Network service for $10 a month. That service is expected to close once the move to Peacock occurs. If you're a current WWE Network subscriber, the transition to Peacock's Premium Plan will actually save you $5 a month while granting you access to a ton of extra content from NBCUniversal's library.
Here's a full breakdown on how to watch WWE Network on Peacock, as well as details on how to catch other WWE programs that will still be available on other platforms.
How to watch WWE
Peacock will be the exclusive streaming provider of WWE Network shows and events starting March 18. The NBCUniversal streaming service will become the most comprehensive place to watch WWE content, although other streaming services will still carry select programs as well.
To watch WWE Network content on Peacock you'll need a Premium or Premium Plus plan. The Premium plan costs $5 a month and offers access to the entire Peacock library of shows and movies. With that said, ads are still included from time to time. For ad-free streaming, you can upgrade to the Premium Plus plan for $10 a month. If you're a Comcast Xfinity X1 and Flex or Cox Contour subscriber, Peacock Premium is already included with your cable package for free.
You can watch WWE Network events and shows on Peacock starting March 18 through the Peacock web browser, or the Peacock app on PlayStation 5, Playstation 4, Xbox One, Chromecast, Roku, iOS, Apple TV, Android, LG smart TVs, and Vizio smart TVs.
Existing WWE shows that air on network TV, however, will continue to be broadcast on those channels. This includes series like "Smackdown" and "Raw." With that said, NBCUniversal's press release mentions that replays of "Smackdown and "Raw" will be shown on Peacock.
New episodes of "SmackDown" air on Fox via cable, antenna, or any live streaming service that carries the channel. Services with Fox include Sling TV, FuboTV, and Hulu + Live TV.
"Raw," on the other hand, airs on the USA Network via cable and live TV streaming services. Sling TV, FuboTV, and Hulu + Live TV all carry USA as well.
What happens if I'm a current WWE Network subscriber?
NBCUniversal and WWE will provide full details on account management for current WWE Network subscribers in March. It's unclear if Peacock will automatically bring WWE Network subscribers over to its platform or if members will have to manually sign up for a new account specifically for Peacock.
Either way, the WWE Network streaming service itself is expected to close in the US. If you're a current member, the switch to Peacock could actually save you money and offer more streaming content.
WWE Network costs $10 a month, but Peacock's Premium Plan costs just $5 a month. And, in addition to WWE Network programs, Peacock offers a huge library of NBCUniversal shows and movies, including episodes of "Saturday Night Live," "30 Rock," and "The Office." WWE Network's switch to Peacock will mean an expansion of the content you get to watch for the same price you're already paying.
The Peacock Premium plan does have ads, however, If you want ad-free streaming, you can pay the same $10 a month fee you currently pay for WWE Network to get access to Peacock Premium Plus.
At the end of the day, you're still getting a lot more content for less or the same amount of money.
