Tikhanovskaya: Belarusians will rally en masse when the weather gets warmer in the country
Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, who considers herself a winner of the presidential elections in Belarus, stated that the Belarusians will meet en masse when it gets warmer in the country
According to her, protests against the outcome of the presidential election haven’t stopped in the country since August, but they have become local and small in number, reports ERR. They will reach mass scale in spring when it gets warmer in the country and the opposition gains strength.
“The fact that there were no mass demonstrations is natural, because people are tired and it is cold now. But what is important is that in the heart and mind it has not changed. Now the people’s movement will increase and by the spring it will return to the previous volumes”, – said Tikhanovskaya.
Protests in Belarus began on 9 August following the announcement of the presidential election results. According to official CEC data, Lukashenko won more than 80 percent of the votes and became president for the sixth time.
Tikhanovska does not recognise the election results, she was forced to leave the country.
