California Film Institute spotlights global films
There’s a chance you might see a future Academy Award-winning film at the California Film Institute’s “For Your Consideration: A Celebration of World Cinema.” The 17th annual series, which showcases some of the global submissions for the award ceremony’s best international feature film category, kicks off Friday. It runs through Feb. 11 online at Rafael@Home.
Some of films include Columbian film “Memories of My Father (Forgotten We’ll Be),” based on the true story of Héctor Abad Gómez, a physician-turned-university-professor in Medellin, Colombia, who promoted tolerance and human rights in his country in the 1980s, and Latvian film “Blizzard of Souls,” which showcases the horrors of World War I through the eyes of a farm boy-turned-solider.
Tickets are $7 to $12 a film; series pass is $55 to $75.
