SSU blocks supply of substandard ammunition worth 50m
According to preliminary conclusions, the production of shells was carried out by handicraft method in unsuitable premises
As reported by Unian, in Sumy region, the counterintelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine exposed and blocked the scheme of supplying the Armed Forces with shells that do not meet the technical conditions.
“SSU operatives have documented that a commercial structure received more than 50 million UAH under the state defence order, while the shells manufactured under the state order turned out to be unsuitable for use”, – the SSU press centre said in a statement.
According to the pre-trial investigation, the Kiev-based business structure signed a state contract with the Defence Ministry for the production and supply of artillery shells.
According to preliminary conclusions, the production of the shells was carried out by the businessmen in an artisanal way in unsuitable premises. According to the conducted research, the military products manufactured in this way do not meet the technical specifications and cannot be used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Therefore, the projectiles in question have been withdrawn from possible use.
