Journalist claims Sam Allardyce is ‘very keen’ to take Spurs defender to West Brom
According to talkSPORT’s Alex Crook, Tottenham Hotspur could terminate Danny Rose’s contract this month, opening the door to the left-back potentially joining West Bromwich Albion.
Rose has been completely frozen out of the first-team picture at Tottenham, having not been included in either the Europa League or the Premier League squads.
The long-serving defender looks to have no way back into Jose Mourinho’s plans after the pair’s fall out last season, which fans got a glimpse of in Amazon’s All or Nothing documentary.
Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol revealed last week (The Transfer Show 05/01/21 at 19:50) that West Brom are showing interest in the 30-year-old, while Turkish club Trabzonspor were also said to be in the running for the England international’s signature.
Rose has only six months left to run on his contract at Tottenham and Crook has now claimed that the North Londoners are now open to terminating his deal and allowing him to join another club on a free transfer.
Speaking on White and Jordan on talkSPORT, the journalist said: “I was told there was a big chance he could follow Jack Wilshere in the sense that Tottenham could cancel his contract in this window. We know he’s not part of Jose Mourinho’s plans.
“West Brom and Sam Allardyce would be very keen to take him to the Hawthorns – whether he would see that as the right club to revive his career, I don’t know.
“I can understand why Big Sam would want him, he’s desperate to bring in some Premier League experience, added Crook.
“But like Wilshere and like Mesut Ozil at Arsenal as well, the time has come for Danny Rose to put his football aspirations ahead of his paycheque and just get some minutes under his belt.
“This career doesn’t last forever, and at the moment he’s just rotting at Tottenham.”

It makes sense for both Rose and the club to agree on some sort of compensation and terminate what is left of his deal. However, a move to West Brom certainly would not be ideal, with the Baggies seeming destined for the drop. However, it does not appear as if too many other clubs would show interest in the England defender seeing how his career has nose dived over the last 18 months.
