Celine Dion Pays Tribute to Late Husband René Angélil on Fifth Anniversary of His Death
It’s been five years since the death of Celine Dion’s husband René Angélil, and on Friday (Jan. 15) the singer took time to pay tribute to her endless love.
“There’s not one day that we don’t think about you,” wrote Dion in a post that featured a black-and-white photo of the couple holding hands near the ocean.
Speaking of Angélil, who died in 2016 at age 73 after a long fight against throat cancer, Dion, 52, added, “We’re reaching out to you now more than ever, to guide us, protect us, and continue to watch over us. And we pray that you’ll shine your love on the entire world, to all those at this very moment, who are facing incredibly difficult times.”
The couple, who were married for 22 years, had three children, René-Charles, 19 and and 10-year-old twins Nelson and Eddy. “You are in our hearts and in our lives forever. We love you, Celine, René-Charles, Nelson and Eddy xx…,” she wrote in the post that was issued in both English and French.
In 2017, a year after Angélil’s passing, Dion shared a video tribute to the manager who discovered her when she was 12-years-old and married her in December 1994.
